Saturday's Lesson 2/18

I think I may have the beginnings of a cold because I was so dizzy from spinning. I literally fell over after one spin. I never get this dizzy.

Anyway, on to lesson notes:

Axel: We're still trying to straighten out my entrance edge. It's pretty good, but it curves around a little extra at the last second. I also need to stay down in the knee but make sure to lift my upper body (it's a little droopy) on the entrance. All in all, it's a pretty good jump.

Double Salchow: I actually landed a few today. Basically, I just have to stop thinking about it and do it. I especially need to push off my toepick on the take-off.

Double flip: Keep hips/shoulders square for the pick. Stay in over the R side.

Landing Exercise: I was stepping out of my double flips b/c I wasn't staying over my R side as I opened into the landing position, so Coach K taught me a new exercise. You do a backspin with your legs in the regular crossed position. Then, without moving your upper body or slowing down the spin, you lift the free leg up slightly and bring it back down so that your legs are next to each other with the big toes touching. Then check out. This teaches you to stay over your R side as you uncross your legs to check out of a jump. It looked so easy when Coach K demonstrated it, but I almost fell over trying it the first time.

Lutz: I need to pick sooner. I sit on the BO edge way too long. And, I need to go faster into it. I hate working on these during crowded freestyles. I get rushed and the jump isn't half as good as when I have the ice to myself.

Coach K said that we'll start choreographing my pre-juv program on Tuesday's lesson. I can't wait!
