No Skating
I didn't skate last week - not even once. My excuse is that I was adjusting to a new schedule, but really I was just being lazy. I started my new job which is fine. It's still not exciting, but at least it's full time and pays well.
The problem is that I now work 7:45am-4:30pm. No rinks between Milwaukee and Chicago have freestyle ice late enough for me to go after work. I can skate at the dumpy (but cheaper $8/hr) rink from 5:30a-6:30a on Tue. and Thur. mornings or I can skate at the nice (but expensive $11/hr) rink ont Tue., Wed., and Thur. I could possibly sneak in an extra day at the dumpy rink by skating 6a-7a on Friday, but I'd probably be a little late to work.
I'm also contemplating a coaching change. The only day my current coach can work with me is Sunday from 12p-1p. The session is a high freestyle at a snobby rink and it costs $18/hr. Plus I'd have to pay my coach's ice fees. And, this rink is about 45min. away from my parents' home and over an hour away from my boyfriend's. After paying for ice time, paying my coach, paying for my coach's ice time, and paying for gas, I would be spending almost $100 for a 45min lesson. I would like to get the extra day of skating in, and I love my coach, but that's just obnoxiously expensive. I may be working full-time, but I'm still not rich. And the time is terribly inconvenient. I only see my boyfriend on weekends, and all of my family functions (about 1 per month) are on Sundays.
I just don't know of any really good coaches closer to home. I suppose I'll have to contact the skating directors at the dumpy and expensive rink and have a few trial lessons.
I suppose that's all for now. Hopefully I'll skate tomorrow - I just have to get my lazy butt out of bed at 4:50am.
