Bad Skate Day
I fell twice on mitf! I hardly ever fall on footwork, so that was a bit surprising. The first fall wasn't bad. I was doing the rocker-choctaw that goes straight down the ice and forgot to put my foot down before trying to step onto a LBO edge. I landed on the side of my thigh/butt that time and there's plenty of padding there. The second fall hurt! I was doing bracket-3-bracket and got a toepick stuck in the ice. I went straight down on my knee. I haven't looked yet, but I'll bet I've got one ugly bruise there. Luckily I didn't do any serious damage. It just took me a few minutes to shake it off.
I may have been a bit distracted while doing mitf b/c someone brought a stroller out on the ice today. Not a little stroller either, but a big 2 seater with a canopy. The parents did a good job of keeping it toward the boards, but I still thought it was dangerous to have such a large, difficult to control/move object on the ice. I was wondering if I was out of place and just annoyed b/c it was interrupting my mitf, but another adult skater who just skates laps was bothered too. That made me feel better. I don't want to be an ice hog, but the stroller seemed a bit ridiculous.
I finished up practice with some spins (the ones I'll need for pre-juvenile and juvenile freeskate tests mostly) and jumps. My singles have regained some of their pop, but axel and doubles were a mess. I didn't feel like sorting them out today, so I just tried each one a few times and left it at that. I'm sure coach will want to see jumps tomorrow. Hopefully I'll land a few on my feet and not on my butt, or else he's going to have one heck of a fit. Hm, come to think of it, I haven't had anything thrown at me in awhile... I'd better pick the end of the rink where they don't keep the stack of cones:)
