Test Day
I took the whole day off of work so that I could practice during mid-day public and test at night. I got to my normal rink to find approx. 10-15 teenagers, cosmic lights, blaring music, and a disco ball. I walked straight out.
Thankfully, dumpy rink is only 20min. away and had a public at about the same time. I went down there and was blissfully alone. I did a quick runthrough of all my moves and my program.
THE TESTS
Intermediate MITF: PASSED! Barely - I got a retry from one judge, but the other two passed me. I was below passing average on my brackets and my back perimeter stroking to back power 3's from all the judges. However, my back double 3's and inside slide chasses were all over passing average. I knew the back power 3's sucked, so I'm not upset about them. I was only .1 below passing on them. I was kinda mad about the brackets (.1 below passing) b/c coach always tells me that he loves my brackets. Therefore, we hardly worked on them. The judges thought the brackets were too slow and had some bad edging. I'm upset with coach because he missed errors on the brackets that every judge commented on.
Preliminary Freestyle: Don't know if I passed because I didn't wait around for my scores. Coach finally brought my music - talk about cutting it close! I forgot a lot of the footwork, but all of the required jumps and spins were complete. Coach said that I didn't push enough, but probably passed. I was mad that he had the nerve to criticize me when I never even did a runthrough of the program with the music b/c he forgot to bring it for 3 months! My mom and grandma who came to the test session thought that the program looked good though. I wouldn't say that they are really knowlegable, but they can usually tell if I mess up big-time.

CONGRATS on passing! I knew you would! I had that on my Adult Bronze MITF, too. One judge, one of the hardest we have at our rink, marked me .1 down on an element and "retry". The other two marked me over on some things, and passed me. Hey, a pass is a pass. Congrats again!

Thanks Janet! I was feeling pretty down yesterday for getting that retry. I read through my comments today though, and the 2 judges that passed me both had lots of nice comments. The judge that didn't pass me had little nit-picky comments on every move - even the ones I passed. I sure am glad I had 2 friendly judges and only one anal retentive one ;)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I cannot believe you could test freestyle without a program to practice. Very impressive. I would be interested in seeing some video of your skating if you have it too, you sound quite good. :-D
