Typical Monday
I generally don't skate my best on Monday. It's always a 'getting back on the ice after the weekend' kind of a day.
Today I:
Ran through intermediate MITF. I think the brackets and back double 3's are improving quite a bit. The clockwise backward power circle is still not so great. I don't get nearly as much power on this one as I get on the counter clockwise one. Somehow, I don't think that's going to cut it with the judges. And the backward power 3's. ARGH! My timing is off on the first 3 now that I changed my perimeter stroking. And, I'm getting back on the heel of my skate on the power 3's. Not good!
Ran through what I know of Novice MITF: Lots of work to do here! I just like trying the patterns so that the intermediate moves feel less difficult. Although I think that I nail the Novice spiral pattern.
Jumped: Just realized that I didn't do an axel today... Went straight to 2salchow. First few 2sals were popped, but then they were nice and big. A bit wrapped and cheated, but they had good potential. If I just pointed my feet in the air and thought about pushing my feet closer together in the backspin position, they'd be beautiful. I'll take them a bit wrapped and cheated on a Monday though, as they usually get better as the week goes on. 2toes were just short of a disaster. I'm getting no height. Although I did manage to get 2-3inches of distance today. 2loops were the same story. No height and cheated although landed on one foot. 2flips were sad. I managed to stay upright on 1 of about 10 attempts. I wasn't getting the weight over the picking foot which meant no height.
Spun: My back camel from a FI3 feels good, but it never centers. At least I'm getting comfortable holding the position now :) Flying camel was the same story. It feels good, but it's not centered. I tried holding my layback longer today, and realized that I cannot breathe while in layback position. If I breathe, I get limp and fall out of the spin. Funny - I can breathe during all of my other spins.
