Yesterday's Lesson

I finally have music and a program! Sorta... Coach was supposed to borrow someone's old prelim. freeskate music. He brought in an old pre-juv program. We're just going to cut off the first 30 seconds, so I won't get a copy until next week when it's cut. The music isn't Signs... I'm actually not sure what it is. I believe it's from a musical. I'll have to remember to ask next week. It starts out slow, and then goes into a fairly quick moving happy-perky section. It's definitely going to be a challenge for me. I usually skate slow and pretty. This is going to require quick footwork and lots of choreography.

Choreography so far...

Back pivot with arm flourish.
LFO counter.
Mini-spread eagle.
Back xovers.
Arm flourish with music.
Waltz-toe.
Hold landing of waltz-toe, change to BI edge, BI 3turn, arabesque to music on FO
edge.
Forward xover.
BO power3.
Mini-bauer (in my bad direction).
Attitude spin.
Footwork (RFI 3turn, Xfront around the corner... then down ice: bracket-3-bracket with arms, hop on L toe, Xfront 3times, LBI rocker-choctaw, hold BO edge after choctaw with free leg raised in front of me, swing to BI and do BI 3turn with arms.

That's as far as we've gotten. I think it will actually be a great program. All of these rockers, choctaws, and brackets seem to be going *just a bit* above and beyond the requirements, but I suppose coach wants me to get used to having them in my program so that when I get to Adult Gold, it'll be natural.

Everything seems to be coming together fairly well. I'm surprised that I was able to pick up and remember all of this choreography in a 45min lesson. There are still some sticking points like getting flow between the pivot and xovers and getting from the bauer into the attitude spin smoothly. The whole footwork sequence will need work. And, I'll have to practice about 1,000,000 times to get the arabesque right with the music. I already feel that I have more speed and control than I did last time I had a program. (last year when I tested pre-bronze - no one told me I had to be 25 to test at that time)

My only worry is that we've only gotten 2 required elements out of the way (waltz-toe and 1-foot spin w/ optional free leg). We still have to fit in waltz, salchow, loop, flip, backspin, and sit spin. I'm really going to have to fly at the end of this program.
