Compliments from a Dancer

I skated at IcePlex a few days ago, and met a Pre-Gold dancer. She complimented my twizzles and loops and said she assumed that I was a dancer! It really made my day!

I've been skating a bit more now that finals are over. I'm working senior moves pretty hard, and I'm putting in a lot of time on skating skills such as twizzles and loops. I haven't been jumping much, and I don't miss it. My axel is still fairly consistent, but the doubles have gone to crap again. I think I may cut back on jumping for good. I enjoy skating so much more when I jump less.

Not Testing!

I just saw the official report from Governing Council. Much to my relief, the new moves in the field are NOT going into effect this year. Whew!

Plus, I've barely skated in two weeks due to studying like crazy for finals.

So, I'm not testing in June.

School...

I haven't skated in almost a week. School's #1 priority right now. I had two finals this week, and I have two next week. Monday is Physics which will be by far the hardest. Then, Logic is Thursday. I wasn't worried about Logic until I went to the review today. Either the TA did a really crappy job of explaining things, or I have no idea what's going on. I'm pretty sure I'm right and the TA's crazy, but now I have to make an appointment to see the Prof. just to make sure. I'm kinda OCD about my grades this semester since I have a 4.0 going at this school.

Skating should resume next week Friday at the latest, although depending on how things go, I may sneak in a session or two over the weekend.

To Test, Or Not To Test

From what I've seen on skatingforums, and on USFSA's website, the new moves aren't going to be implemented until at least 2009. That means I've got over a year to pass them.

So, I've been contemplating skipping the June test session. I'm having a very hard time making a decision about it, so I'm going to do some pro/con analysis... (It'll help me think through it all.)

Reasons for skipping the test session:
- Coach T just had her baby and won't be coaching for a few weeks while she gets used to being a mommy.
- My moves just aren't that good yet, especially the inside double three pattern.
- I'm still feeling a bit burned out from Nationals, and training a set of really hard moves for a test I'll probably fail is kind of bringing me down.
- I'm frickin' poor and can't afford to take this test a billion times.

Reasons for testing:
- In June, I'll only miss a gen. ed. class. on test day. If I wait to test later in the summer or in the fall, I'll miss either a Calc II class, or a Physics class. (That would be major bad news as those classes are hard, and don't cut anyone any slack.)
- Coach T hasn't had any students test senior moves yet, so the feedback would probably be really helpful.
- It is possible that in a month, I could pass this test. I'll need to improve a lot in a month and probably be a little lucky, but it's not completely impossible.

At this point, I really don't know what I'll do. The test sheets aren't due for a couple of weeks, so for now I'll keep working as if I'm going to test. I won't have to decide until mid to late May. (I really should check the exact dates...)
