Mids Update

I skated a much better program than I anticipated after a week of absolutely disastrous practices. My combo spin (camel, COE camel, sit, back sit) went really well at the beginning of the program which was encouraging because it had been a mess all week. The spiral sequence was fine. I landed a clean axel from the spread eagle. Then, nerves started to kick in. I did my single toe-single toe combination, but popped the double salchow right after. It turned into a nice big single, so it wasn't too terrible of a mistake. After that, I knew I had to hit my last jump pass or I wasn't going to AN this year. Somehow, I managed to relax through my footwork and flip-loop-loop. Then, I gave the last jump pass everything I had left, and landed it! (It was a double sal-tap toe-axel). I was so surprised that I forgot about the layback after, and did some extra 3 turns before I remembered to spin. I thought I was late, so I rushed the layback and it traveled a bit, but I was early coming out of the spin. So, I did a crossover and ended right in front on the judges, on time with the music.
It still wasn't a perfect program, and it didn't have the technical difficulty that I originally planned, but I was very happy with the way I skated. I think my presentation and power have improved this year, and that was my main goal. I just wish I could get the darn jumps up to the same level as the rest of my skating...

Watched your skate on icenetwork - very nice skate! I really like your axels.
Maybe it wasn't exactly as you planned, but I'd never have known that! You have a lot to be proud of. Well done.

Jennifer, you looks wonderful with that big gold medal and bowl - very inspiring! The dress came out gorgeous, too. Congratulations on winning Mids and having a good skate. I wish I could see you at ANs, but alas, I am leaving Thursday. Good luck!

Thanks for the compliments! I was really proud of the program I did. I haven't had such a solid free skate under pressure since I tested Juvenile FS (almost 2 years ago)!
Jocelyn - I'm arriving in Lake Placid on Wed., hopefully late afternoon if all goes as planned with the plane trip, so maybe we will have a chance to meet in person :)
