Linky-Linky
I finally took the time to figure out how to edit my links. It was spectacularly easy. I should have done that a long time ago. If you'd like me to link to your journal, let me know!
In skating news, I've been working hard. I've been doing lots of run throughs of Junior MITF. They still kinda stink. Although Coach K did say that my left inside rocker pattern looked nice and flowing. Unfortunately, the right side looks like I'm about to die. I think that's probably my worst sticking point right now. Other patterns have little corrections, but not major errors. But, the power pulls can go wacky at any time. I just cross my fingers and hope for a good set when I do them. I'm still working on getting more speed, power, and polish.
I reworked the beginning of my program. I'm taking out the two "pretty poses" after the pivot, and doing some toe steps, a back attitude, and a double 3turn. I get a lot more power from the new steps, and I think it makes for a much stronger opening. I'll have to show Coach K next week and hope she likes it. And, I'd like to say that this is the last change that I'm planning on making to the program. I like it the way it is, and I'm done changing it. (Every lesson, I tell Coach K that I changed something. It's become quite the joke.)
Jumps are staying consistent. I've actually been landing double salchows regularly :) :) :) Double toes are still cheated, although I did one that was clean today. I neeed to work on them in the program because it comes right after a spin and being dizzy makes jumping haaard. Double loops are still cheated, although I think I'm feeling better about the take-off. I really have to feel the right shoulder pulling back so that I don't let my shoulders swing around. I also like to think of my lower body doing the work to initiate the jump - NOT my shoulders. I'm hoping these will get closer to being completely rotated.
All in all, I'm skating pretty well lately. I hope it stays that way.

Power pull exercise: Going down the long axis of the rink, do BO rocker, FO edge pull, FI edge pull, FO rocker, repeat. Concentrate on hitting a nice edge after the rocker turn.
This is HARD but has really helped my power pull/rockers - aka the reason I failed my test. :P

Wish I had checked this before I went skating today. I will try it next time though. The FO edge pull after the BO rocker will be the death of me. I am making progress though. (really slow progress) I think I was keeping the free leg too high on the exit. Now, I'm keeping it lower and trying to make the edge quality better. You can still see that I'm really stuck after the turn though.
