Good Lesson (No Jumps)

Today was the first day I've skated since my disasterous lesson with Chris. I let myself have a lazy weekend and spent a lot of time watching old tapes from US Nationals. Those always make me feel like skating. In one program, Sasha Cohen does a back catch foot camel into a layback without letting go of her foot. I want to try and learn the forward version of this spin. I tried it today, and think it went fairly well for a new spin. It's definately a possibility for me.

I had a lesson with coach K this morning, and we worked on junior mitf and spins for an hour. It was a really great lesson. My moves still stink, but there are noticeable improvements even when I haven't skated for a few days. And, spinning is always fun. I got a really great flying camel today which thrilled me because I'm finally correcting some old bad habits. I'm also working on a flying sit. Coach K gave me permission to do a flying sit instead of doing a beginner version. Before, I was just doing a little hop basically from a standstill. Now, she wants me to try and increase my speed on the entrance and really jump and tuck in the air instead of hopping. It's much harder, but again, it's definitely possible for me.

It was very refreshing to come off of the ice feeling pleased with myself. It's been awhile since that last happened.
