Stuck in Skating Purgatory
I'm very unenthusiastic about skating right now. I had a lesson with Chris Conte yesterday which I totally bombed. Then, I skipped ballet and power class and ate a bunch of cake and cried about how bad of a skater I am. That was probably the worst thing I could have done, because the extra 15 lbs I've gained in the last year or so are most likely the reason for my massive suckage at jumping right now.
I've rejoined the gym and intend to go regularly as well as train to jog in a 10K race in my hometown the day before Thanksgiving. I'm also going to start counting calories again. Hopefully I can lose some of this weight.
Until I get skinny again, I think I may put double jumps on hold. I'm not getting anywhere with them, and they're making me hate skating.

maybe taking a break from double jumps for a bit is a good idea since you are so frustrated with them.
hang in there!

I find that when I start feeling that way about my skating, I take a break completely. I mean, take a few weeks off the ice. Watch some skating compitions. Eventually you will get the itch to skate again and when you come back you will be more inspired. It's best not do force yourself to do something that you are discouraged about because you will only start to feel worse. Hang in there :)
