Shame on Me

For forgetting to write down what was changed/added last time Coach K and I worked on my program. I tried to do a run through before today's lesson, and realized that I forgot half of my transitions. That could also be because I didn't have a chance to practice the program since we changed/extended it. Bad skater!

It may be for the best though because we rechoreographed some of those transitions, and I think the program is actually flowing much better. It seems much more natural and less 'I'm doing this because my coach insists on it although I suck massively at it.' Even the RFI rocker out of a spiral (never did a FI rocker before coach decided it would look good in my program) is feeling better.

And, so that I actually remember these changes, here is the program in list format:

-push out of pretty pose (to be determined at a later date) into mini forward bauer in my bad direction (curses!)
-LFO 3turn, edge pull on LBI, swing to LBO, LBO 3turn
-step right and do pretty extension
-1 forward xover, then x-front (swingroll onto RFO), RFO rocker, x-front, LBI double 3turns, power 3turn, loop jump (ACK!)
-bring loop jump landing away from the audience, step LFO, x-front, mini spread eagle/fake direction change, LFO 3turn, 2 back xovers with pretty leg lift thingy between them, lutz
-pretty arms on lutz landing, without putting free foot down do RBO 3turn and hold deep inside edge on exit
-step LFI, LFI 3turn, x-front, RBI double 3turn, camel spin
-do back xovers directly out of camel (no one foot spin exit-the right foot steps wide out of the spin and the L(spinning)foot crosses over
-2 back xovers
-LFO-LFI change of edge spiral, LFI rocker with arms (make them soft or you'll look like a zombie!), mini bauer in the good direction, swoop down going forward and curving to the left, come up and turn backward at the same time, RBO pull-up spiral that skids to a stop (ala Sasha Cohen)
-step L toepick, R toepick (1 rotation on this one), LFO 3turn, (#?) back xovers, lutz-loop combo
-after landing lutz, x-front, 2 rocker quick turns from novice mitf, Russian mohawks or flip-flops from senior moves (gulp!) with RFI 3turn exit into camel-sit
-the rest is TBA once we do a run through with the music but will include a flip and a scratch-back scratch

Today's musings: Coach K was really impressed that I can do an outside bauer. I found this odd b/c I never really found it harder than the straight-line bauer. Also, my loop sucks big time within my program. Can you say noodle arms?? And, no one will believe me when I say it's for artistic effect. Yet my lutz which is less reliable outside of the program is actually better within the program. Go figure.

We spent the last few minutes of today's lesson working on the %$#@$^#@^$^@#&@#$^$^! backspin drill where you start a backspin, keep you arms/free leg fairly open, then jump up and pull into rotation position, and supposedly land still rotating. I've taken more falls on this than on all of my other doubles combined. I simply cannot land while spinning. I made some improvement today - better air position with feet crossed near the top of the boot with space between the knees and arms pulled in low (to the ribcage, not the shoulder). Coach K thinks I'm getting mushy on the landing and that's why I fall. If I stayed in the air position (stretched up) I might be able to stay on my feet when I land. Sigh, this one is going to take a lot of work. And, I now have firm instructions to practice this ^^%&*#$#^! drill every time I skate as well as the backspin where you go from crossed position to toes together/legs next to each other without moving the upper body and the RFI 3turn with L arm across body-hold BO edge-bring R arm in to start rotation/spin without moving the L side! At least I can practice these on publics. Backspin drills and back inside flying sits. That's my agenda for public tomorrow night!
