Yaaaaaaaawn!
I didn't make it to public on Wed. night :( But, I did make a sinfully delicious chocolate cake to decorate in Thur. night's decorating class :)
Since I skipped Wed. night public, I made sure to go to the 5:30am practice on Thur. That makes 3 days this week that I made it to the early practice! Good for my skating, but I'm exhausted.
Thursday morning practice went well which was surprising. I burst a blood vessel in my eye and couldn't wear my contacts. I hate skating with glasses because the prescription is 6 years old (not nearly strong enough), I have no depth perception, and I have no peripheral vision. The session actually seemed a little less crowded than usual which was really helpful. And, I guess muscle memory took over because I didn't have problems landing my jumps (well, not more than usual).
I ran through novice mitf first. They're still too slow. But, the brackets are less scary now. I make it through the pattern without major mistakes about 90% of the time. I also worked on getting the right # of turns in the 3turn pattern. I've only been doing 4 on my bad side, and I need 5 :( The pattern actually feels better (tighter and more controlled) with 5 sets of turns on each end, but I'm soooo slow.
As for jumps, I landed several double salchows, but my free leg was wrapped. Very bad skater! I managed a few double toes by bringing my right leg/arm up and through on the take-off. They weren't very consistent though. Double loops were much, much better than last Saturday's lesson. I've been working all of the back spin drills that Coach K prescribed, and I'm getting much better at keeping my left side where it should be on take-off. My air position is also much better. (That goes for all of my jumps except the salchow.) I even tried double flips, but wasn't able to land any. I was a little disappointed, but I haven't worked on them in quite awhile, so I couldn't really expect to land them.
I made absolutely certain to run through my program this time! I didn't want to forget everything again. The steps coming out of the loop jump are starting to make sense (and not put me straight into the boards-yea!). I still need to work on coming out of the camel spin with back xovers. The spiral sequence needs some work too, but it's really hard to do when there are 1558934787 mini-jumping beans all around me. The spirals themselves are ok, but I need to work on the transition from the FI spiral to the BO edge pull-up. I'm just not getting any speed, and the pull-up looks really cool if I have a bit of speed. The footwork out of the lutz-loop is also giving me problems. I'm a little wobbly getting into the rockers, and I'm still clueless about how to do the russian mohawks (flip-flops) after them. Lots of work needed there.
