MXT

Maybe I spoke too soon when I complained about not being scheduled to teach the winter walk-on classes... I've been assigned to teach on 4 out of 5 classes since my last post, but two of those were the class that has been deemed the MXT (Most Extreme Tot Elimination) class after the Spike TV show, MXC. Click here for a sample of the show.

The MXT class is 2-4 year old kids with little or no skating experience. Fortunately, there haven't been any injuries in the MXT class. However, yesterday we went from 15 kids to just 1 by the end of class. Once one started crying, the rest followed along. I'm not opposed to keeping criers on the ice, but once they figured out how to crawl to their parents at the door, it was a mass exodus. Today, we went from 5 to 1. The best part is that the 4 that were eliminated today were the four that started the whole problem yesterday. Any guesses on how many will be eliminated tomorrow???

I hate when parents stand at the boards. I think it's really distracting for the kids, especially the ones who get upset easily. I'm trying to figure out a tactful way of telling parents to take a hike.
