Skating Stuff

I had the most awful lesson today. I've had terrible allergies lately, and they're to the point of causing congestion, coughing, and headaches. I knew from the moment that I stepped on the ice today that I wan't on my game. It was so disappointing because I skated pretty well at my last few practices, and I wanted to show coach K how much I'd improved.

I did manage a few nice axels, but the lesson was downhill after that. Double sals felt terrible. Coach K said that I was getting up in the air, but that I was collapsing on the way down. Double toes were even worse. I popped a ton, and just couldn't seem to feel comfortable. Double loops didn't get any better. I was throwing my left side around like a maniac, and couldn't stop it to save my life. All in all, I landed 2 axels and 1 double toe in about 30min. of jumping. Not good odds...

Coach K also asked to see laybacks. I held one for 8 revs., but it started getting sloppy on the last two. And, I'll need to either add a catch foot, or a sideways position in order to get a level 2 spin.

I did manage a flying camel with a change to an inside edge for Coach K, but it wasn't one of my best. I really wanted to surprise her with the change to inside edge and then drop down into a backsit with a core change, but I knew I wasn't going to pull that off today :( Maybe next lesson...
