Still Skating - Barely
My coach is truly my hero. I left a message for her saying that I couldn't afford to skate this summer, and she called me back saying that she'd waive her coaching fees for summer and that I had absolutely no excuse to miss my lesson the next day. I told her that it made me feel terrible to take lessons for free, and she said that all she asks is that someday I help out a skater in need since I'm coaching now too.
I'm still going to have trouble finding money for ice time, but I sent a message to the skating director asking for help, and she's going to have me work a few hours in the rink office, and try to put me on a few more classes in the fall.
This week, I only got to skate twice, just on my lesson days. I might try to go to a public session tomorrow. I know it will be a zoo, but I just want to keep my feet under me. I might even be able to work on back sit w/ change of edge. That doesn't take up much space.
My lessons this week went much better than I had hoped. I figured I'd be a mess since I hadn't skated for a few days before. I managed to land respectable double salchows and double toes. They still weren't consistent, but they do feel better and better. I think knowing that I don't have much ice time makes me focus and try much harder on each move. I don't have time to do things over and over, so I have to do them right the first time.
Junior moves are also coming along. The rocker patterns feel much better. I still get a bobble out of some of the BO rockers, but it's not nearly as noticeable as before. Coach K still wants me to have deeper edges on my choctaws, but Coach R saw them and told me they're looking really good. It's nice to know she still keeps an eye on me, even if I can't afford lessons with her anymore.

i'm glad to hear you're still on ice. as someone who has gotten a lot of help and support from those more financially well-off, i can tell you that, when the tables turn, and you can help someone else, it feels *great* so try to enjoy!
