Settling in to Summer

I'm beginning to settle into a summer schedule. My summer class (Physics I) starts next week, so I should be back on the blissfully empty 5am weekday freestyles starting next week. I've also found the 3pm Thursday freestyle and the 8am Saturday freestyle aren't insanely crowded and are convenient because I coach right after them.

Coaching is going better than I ever expected. I'm an assistant on a Pre-Alpha, a Tot Beginner, and a Tot Advanced class. All of my kids are great. They're excited to be there, and I haven't had a crier yet. I know I won't always be so lucky, but it's a good way to start out.

As for my own skating, I've made a lot of progress in some areas, but the double jumps are still terribly inconsistent. Spins and footwork are coming along though.

I'll be retesting junior MITF in either July or August. July would be an out of club test, so I may just wait until August to test with my home club.

I still haven't started a new program. I'll have to ask Coach K about the music tomorrow. Last I heard, it was in the process of being cut. I'm think about doing only the freeskate this year, and not doing an artistic number. I'm going to be super busy with school, and that may limit my skating time. In that case, passing junior and senior moves this year and having a terrific freeskate for Sectionals and Nationals are my priorities.
